Silke Pfeiffer has been Head of the Human Rights and Peace Unit at Brot für die Welt since 2019. The unit leads Brot für die Welt's global advocacy work in the areas of human rights, conflict transformation, and migration. One of its aims is the protection of human rights defenders under threat. Silke Pfeiffer previously headed the Mexico, Central America, Caribbean unit at Brot für die Welt. As head of the International Crisis Group regional office in Colombia, she followed the armed conflict and peace process there. For many years she worked for Transparency International as Latin America Director on governance and anti-corruption issues. Silke Pfeiffer holds a degree in Latin American studies and is alumna of the postgraduate programme of the German Development Institute (IDOS).
