Christiane Kayser is a specialist consultant in the area of conflict transformation and local capacity building. She has worked since 1984 in a number of African countries (Anglophone and Francophone). Since 1992 she has regularly worked in the Great Lakes Region, especially in Eastern DR Congo and has developed links to civil society actors from many different communities. Her focus is particularly on context analysis, conflict transformation, advocacy and capacity building linked to building a culture of responsibility and accountability.

She is committed to networking on development and peace issues focusing on Interafrican and African-European exchanges and is a member of the think tank Mapinduzi Unit and a co-editor of the Mapinduzi Journal in French and English.

She has worked for the German Cooperation (GTZ/GIZ, DVV, Brot für die Welt, Weltfriedensdienst, Welthungerhilfe), The Club du Sahel and the Swiss Cooperation. Her international development consulting experience includes work in DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Botswana.
