DEEP DIVE: Social Media and Peacebuilding - Challenges and Opportunities II

Using Social Media to Build Peace – Tools, Tips and Experiences

Although social media can facilitate the dissemination of hate and the incitement to violence, it also has the potential to contribute to positive change. Social media offers new spaces for dialogue and exchange to billions of people, features that have become even more relevant during the COVID 19 pandemic. In an effort to make use of this potential, there have been nascent attempts to use social media as a tool for the promotion of reconciliation, coexistence, and sustainable peace.

This second part of the Deep Dive considers how social media can contribute to peacebuilding and creates a space to share international experiences, good practices, and lessons for future initiatives within this rapidly changing and relatively unexplored landscape.
