Dr Martina Fischer is a political scientist and peace researcher based in Berlin (Germany). She worked at the Berghof Foundation (Berlin) from 1998-2016 as a senior researcher, deputy and acting director of the Berghof Research Center for Constructive Conflict Management, co-editor of the Berghof Handbook for Conflict Transformation, and Director of the Southeast-Europe Programme. She has published extensively on post-war peacebuilding; the role of civil society in conflict transformation; transitional justice and reconciliation, European Policy, and civil-military relations. Since April 2016 she works for Bread for the World, a Protestant Development Agency (Berlin) as a Policy Advisor in the Human Rights and Peace Desk. Her current focus is on policy analysis (German and European Foreign and Development Policy) and support for BfdW’s partners on a global level.
