Dr. Karin Mlodoch is a psychologist and holds a PHD in Social Psychology. She looks back on twenty-seven years of work and research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Iraq with a focus on women survivors of political and social violence. She has also gained experience in development and peace-building projects in Afghanistan and South Africa. She is co-founder, board member and project coordinator of the German based NGO HAUKARI e.V., that supports psychosocial and empowerment projects for women and young people in Iraq. Her extensive research and publications link psychological trauma research to memory studies and the debate on transitional justice and reconstruction processes after conflict and war.
