What will the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum 2021 look like?

The FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum 2021 is a two-part virtual conference that brings together experts and practitioners to discuss current questions in the peacebuilding field. The first part, the Virtual Sessions from 27 to 29 April, will be hosted by FriEnt members and partner organizations from all over the world. The second part on 5 and 6 May will feature plenary sessions, breakout sessions and the political afternoon – all live as an interactive stream.

All participants are invited to join the virtual conference venue which creates an open and productive working atmosphere, with a wide range of opportunities to get engaged and exchange with a wide peacebuilding community.


How can I participate?

Please note that a participation at the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum is by invitation only. If you have not received an invitation, you will not be able to take part in the forum. Following the conference, however, FriEnt will offer a detailed documentation of the PBF 2021 on its website.


How do I access the virtual conference venue the day of the event?

When your registration has been confirmed, an e-mail will be (or has been) sent to you a few days before the event, including the link to the virtual conference venue as well as your personal login details (e-mail address and password). Should you have not received this e-mail, please check the spam folder in your inbox or contact peacebuilding-forum@frient.de.

The login details can be used to access the platform again, even after you have signed out. Should you lose your login details, please contact peacebuilding-forum@frient.de.


What do I need to know before taking part in the FriEnt PBF 2021?

In order to participate in the virtual conference venue, a stable internet connection and an internet-enabled device is needed. Tip: You can check your internet connection here: https://www.speedtest.net/. It is advised to use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to ensure an optimal experience in the virtual conference venue.

The Virtual Sessions from 27-29 April are hosted via Microsoft Teams (MS Teams). You can either join the sessions by using the MS Teams app or by using MS Teams via a web browser. If you want to use the app, it is recommended that you download and install it on your computer beforehand. If you choose to use MS Teams via a web browser, please make sure to use Microsoft Edge, Chrome or Safari 13.1, since Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox or other browsers do not support MS Teams.

To get actively involved in the virtual sessions, we encourage you to use an external microphone / headset in addition to the camera, if possible.


What functionalities does the virtual conference venue offer?

The virtual conference venue of the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum 2021 not only links to the virtual sessions from 27 to 29 April and to the interactive livestream of the conference on 5 and 6 May, but also offers opportunities for joint exchange and creativity to fully experience the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum 2021. Among lively thematic discussions, you will have the opportunity to check out the programme, network with other participants, get actively engaged and contribute your ideas.
